At Coffee Highschool, we are extremely fortunate to have an entire pathway dedicated to Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Our awesome advisers teach the classes, and FCCLA is integrated within them, so us as members we have a ton of fun.  It is definitely worth taking this CTAE pathway; not only is it fun, but it shows commitment. :)

 

Our goal at Coffee High is to ensure that all students graduate, but not only that, but that they graduate with the life skills needed to succeed. Our FACS classes teach life skills. You may learn how to cook, or you may learn the stages of development in children or pregnancy. You may take special interest in how food and nutrients affect your body, or how you can manage what you eat and exercise to build muscle.

 

You may finally learn the proper way to write a resume or how to balance that checkbook of yours. You may decide you want to be a nutritionist, a chef, or perhaps a specialist in early childhood development. Family and Consumer Sciences doesn't just prepare you to graduate; it prepares you for life. You need to know how to balance your money and still eat right. You may decide to have children or you may have younger siblings, and knowing how they develop is not only cool but it is useful.
